Kate and Mike invited us to Petaluma, California for their wedding weekend, and it was just a beautiful as we had hoped it would be. For their rehearsal day, we visited Repris Winery – which is where Kate works and does magical chemistry stuff to make amazing wines for all to enjoy. After spending the morning up in the mountains we headed down to Olympia’s Valley Estate, which was the ceremony and reception location. More on this lovely location in the wedding day blog. After running through their rehearsal, we headed over to one of Kate and Mike’s friend’s home where we enjoyed great company, drinks and delicious pizza by Napa Vallery Crust’s Pizza truck. KJAD needs one of those! Mmmmm… So so good.

There’s nothing better than a happy, beautiful bride on her wedding day. And to get her to that point, there are countless days and hours of exciting decisions that culminate in to making her look and feel so, so pretty. Hair, makeup, eyelashes, earrings, hair piece, necklace, bracelet, veil, THE DRESS, shoes, comfortable shoes for dancing, garter, bouquet, and probably even a bit more… and it’s all worth it. Throughout all of the planning, prep and hopefully just a little bit of worrying, they end up just as beautiful as we know they are. So here’s a little tip of the hat to a our KJAD brides… doing what they do best… making us fellas look good.

Non-traditional ceremony locations give you the opportunity to style your ceremony as much as you’d like. Whether you are looking for a simple outdoor ceremony with beautiful aisle decor, or if you are having your ceremony by candle light, the sky is the limit with what you can do. A few unique ideas we have here for you include: backlit white lights and drapes, gobo of your monogram or wedding logo, monogram aisle runner, fresh flower aisle decor, paper flower archway (made by Regular Frills), hanging lanterns, custom signage, custom ceremony programs, vintage french door backdrop, and a unique unity sand frame… This one was perfect for a Halloween wedding. Every little detail helps make your day even more your own. So incorporate meaningful little touches to make it just right…. Your guests will notice and love that it’s “so you”. Enjoy!

Decorations and reception styling can make your wedding day so much more special and unique for you and your guests. Adding a beautiful centerpiece, accent wall, or even a super thematic treat, can set your wedding apart from the rest and will make it something that you’ll remember forever. Here are a few of our favorite reception decor gems from this past seasons. Feeling super inspired now? Thought so. : )
Here’s a little nugget of decor info that might be something to consider. Knot Just Any Day can design custom table numbers and we also have rentable three dimensional wooden numbers. In addition, Regular Frills, Bridget’s company, can create beautiful paper flower centerpieces or even accent walls. Just saying. Let us know how we can help make your day even prettier.

Let me show you a few things.
Here are a few of our dapper Dans from recent weddings. Wearing a mix of classic black, navy, and even a few different grays, these fellas were all decked out on their wedding day. For us guys it’s so much easier when it comes to the suit, but don’t forget that what matters the most are the details and the fit. Be sure your fella is comfortable and tailored and have fun adding the right touches to go with the wedding day theme/colors.
No one likes the matchy matchy purple paisley open-back vest, so make sure to add that pop of color in a well tied bow tie, pocket square, festive socks or even just the right boutonniere. And don’t forget about their accessories. Cufflinks, glasses, a watch… heck, even a pocketwatch will complete the sharp-well-dressed-guy look. And trust us… they might squirm now about photos, but once they are all suited up, look out… “just one more photo.”

“I dedicate this to all the pretty girls…(all the pretty girls)” … ok… maybe a ODB quote isn’t the best way to start off our inspiration blog about beautiful brides and bridesmaids dresses… but it made us chuckle. so there.
In this blog, we have examples of beautiful wedding gowns, exciting bridesmaids dresses, and even an adorable flower girl dress or two. This season brought us a fair share of stunning lace and tulle, but it also brought color, patterns and asymmetric cuts that we haven’t seen before. By no means are we experts on dresses, but we just wanted to share with you how pretty our KJAD ladies looked this year. Enjoy!!

First looks may be one of our all time favorite parts of a wedding. It’s usually the only chance that the bride-and-groom-to-be get to have a moment alone together. Seeing each other for the first time as the bride traditionally walks down the aisle is classic, awesome and extremely powerful. But, seeing each other for the first time in a private picturesque location, where you get to get out all of those emotions (laugh, cry, be super anxious, etc) and then get to just be yourselves, by yourselves (and with us), is an amazing thing.
Don’t get us wrong, tradition is tradition for a reason, we just wish this was the tradition.
The groom patiently waits for his soon to be bride – she comes around the corner from behind – she can see him, he can only hear her – nerves kick in – she makes her way over with a little nervous conversation – she’s now close – they turn towards each other – and just like that, a year of planning, a year of excitement, and a year of waiting to be together comes rushing in – this is it, and it’s soooo awesome. Oh, and we capture all of that with photo and/or video, for you to relive again and again. Seriously, its so awesome!
So if you are on the fence about adding this in your day, consider the above experience, but also know that with a first look (and a shorter wedding day), you can also then take your bride and groom portraits, wedding party photos, and even sometimes add in some family shots all before you actually take the wedding ceremony plunge. Then, once your ceremony is over, you, now a married couple, head right to your cocktail hour and begin celebrating with your friends and family. This is all about you two. Soak it up and make sure to step back occasionally and take it all in. Oh, and smile for the camera!!

And if you want to have the photo opp, but just love the thought of seeing each other for the first time at your ceremony, consider a “no first look” first look. Peek around corners, but not too far… be within earshot but not eyesight. Just as much fun, and your traditional side will sleep better at night.

And don’t forget about dads!! They love seeing you just as much as your soon to be husband does. Try this with them… who knows, maybe dad’s a crier. #dadsacrier
